Hit or Miss: Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

DSCI0126

Hey, darlings! I’m baaaaaaaaaaaack! I know it has been such a long hiatus, but it’s been one hell of a spring & summer. So many changes have been happening so blogging had to take a backseat for a while. However, I have a lot of new content ideas so expect to see me regularly posting.

Now, let’s get back to Hit or Miss! I’ve been using Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream for about 4 months now and I absolutely loveeeeee it. It’s basically a cream that tightens and smooths your skin, OVER TIME. So don’t expect immediate results. However, the smell and the glow it gives your skin is AMAZING! I feel more attractive and luscious when I put this on my body. Some the ingredients include: coconut oil, acai, guarana, and cupuacu butter. Also, the consistency is bit thick so a little goes a long way.

DSCI0127

All of my friends who I’ve recommended this cream to love it! I suggest you guys buy its ASAP. You can get it the 8 oz jar at Sephora for $45. If you wanna try it before you fully commit, the travel size is $20.

Hit or Miss: St. Ives Live Radiantly VoxBox

DSCI0006

Hello, people! So, I’ve decided to give you guys a little break on hair product reviews. I know not all of my readers have curly hair and I want everyone to benefit from my reviews. I was accepted into Influenster’s St. Ives Live Radiantly Campaign and here is what I think of the products…

Let’s start with the Fresh Skin Apricot Body Scrub. I’ve used it for 2 weeks now and I definitely notice a difference. My skin is very, very dry during the winter months. I will admit sometimes I get lazy and skip body lotion all together. When I use this in the shower, my skin feels soft immediately. I would suggest using this right after you shave so you can see how soft this product can really get your skin.

I’ve always been a fan of St. Ives body lotions. They absorb so quickly into the skin and that’s the main thing that I look for in a lotion. I hate feeling slick and sticky. If you use this lotion following the scrub, your skin will be immaculate. However, if you opt for just the lotion, your skin will still feel soft but not as soft.

Overall, I enjoyed both products and will continue to use them in unison. 🙂

Note: I’ve received these products complimentary for testing purposes.

At Home Pampering 101

tumblr_n931iurkqh1ruqlf2o1_250

(via rebloggy.com)

Hey, all. We are in December, which means 2015 is coming to a close! This year feels like it’s gone by super fast. Anyway, Nicole Guerriero inspired this post because she recently uploaded a pampering video on her channel. When most people think pampering, they think about the spa. Unfortunately, spas can get costly. Even Groupon prices can be a little pricey. So, I wanted to share with you affordable ways to pamper yourself in the comfort of your own home.

  • Bath bombs and bubbles What is more luxurious than a warm bath? Bath bombs and bubbles just add even more to the luxury and ambiance. I love buying bath items at LUSH! They have so many options.
  • Candles I love candles, especially in the colder months. Aromatherapy is important when it comes to relaxation. The best scented candles are from Bath & Body works, hands down!
  • Face masks You have to take care of that complexion! I love wearing masks when I have some downtime. The best masks can be found at Sephora. I love GlamGlow and Sephora Collection face masks. LUSH has some great face masks, too.
  • Body scrubs are the best way to exfoliate your body. You can find body scrubs in Sephora, The Body Shop, Bath & Body Works, LUSH, etc. You can even make some at home. There are plenty of DIY body scrub recipes.
  • Body butters I find that body butters are so much more moisturizing than lotions. My favorite place to get body butters are The Body Shop and Bath & Body Works.

Using all of these combined will give you a relaxing, spa-like experience at home.

Hit or Miss: Yardley’s Oatmeal & Almond Soap

It’s Monday! That means time for that weekly product review on Hit or Miss Mondays 🙂

So normally, I prefer body wash to bar soap. When I use bar soap, it’s strictly Dove. Dove body products just do wonders for my skin. However, when my family bought a pack of Yardley’s Oatmeal & Almond soap, I decided to give it a try. Oatmeal is great for skin irritation and dryness. Almond just smells good! So, I would imagine that the 2 of them together would work well on my skin.

I’ve been using this soap for about a week and it’s amazing! I can honestly say it makes my body feel a bit softer than when I use the Dove soap. This soap creates a really, rich lather and also exfoliates my skin at the time because it has these tiny exfoliating beads in it. The smell is amazing too. When I get out the shower, my skin feels like butter before I even put on lotion. It’s also gentle enough to use on your face. I really can’t think of one bad thing to say about this soap. It’s a HIT, for sure.

You can find it in most supermarkets and drugstores.

Get That Glow: Personal Microdermabrasion

Hey darlings! Let’s just jump right in to this topic, shall we? Who has hyperpigmentation? *raises hand* Who has dull complexion? *raises hand* Who has large pores? *raises hand* Who suffers from acne? *raises hand* Who suffers from wrinkles? Who suffers from ANY SKIN RELATED PROBLEMS? If you’re like most of the population, let me introduce you to the PMD aka the Personal Microdermabrasion system.

What is microdermabrasion? Microdermabrasion is a procedure where tiny crystals are used to buff away the dry, dead skin off the surface layer of your skin. It promotes cell renewal and reveals healthier, younger looking skin. Also, since it’s removing the gunk from the outmost layer of your skin, your skincare products will be able to penetrate your skin SO MUCH BETTER.

I first heard about this product 2 years ago when I was watching Amanda Ensing’s video on it. However, that price tag was intense and I was a broke ass college student. Let’s just keep it real haha. I obviously had to put it on the back burner. Two years later, more and more people on YouTube were talking about it and I finally decided to buy it. Keep in mind, a single treatment of microdermabrasion can be a bit pricy. In NYC, prices range from $50-$150 per session. The PMD is $159 but I was lucky enough get a coupon code from Raschelle aka MsRoshPosh on YT for 15% off. So, I only paid $135.The PMD kit comes with the device itself, 2 caps (1 for body, 1 for face), 1 training disc (the white one), 4 sensitive skin, blue discs (2 for face, 2 for body), 2 normal skin, green discs (1 for face, 1 for body), and of course the plug.

When I got it, I wanted to use it immediately! I saw so many tutorials on it, so I decided to jump right in. I even skipped the video that came with the package – rebellious, I know. I just tested it on my arm with the white training disc for about 10 seconds and decided I knew how to use it.

The first time I used it, I don’t think I was doing it right because I didn’t notice any difference. The product itself doesn’t claim difference after one use but plenty of reviews that I read were claiming magical things. The only thing I noticed was that was skin was pretty damn soft. The next morning, my skin didn’t seem much different. However, after the second and third treatment, I was floored. The hyperpigmentation on my skin was noticeably fading, especially on my chin which is where I’m prone to scars and acne. I also had a pimple coming in and when I used the PMD, it was flat the next morning – literally. My family has even noticed a difference in my skin to the point that they want me to use it on them. I personally use the device once a week. I know some people who say they do it twice a week but I’m not brave enough to do that. It’s my face we’re talking about here lol. I don’t want to cause any issues I can’t come back from haha.

Here are some tips:

  • Prior to using the PMD, wash your face and make sure it’s 100% dry. Otherwise, it’ll be hard to move the PMD on your skin if it’s clammy or damp.
  • Hold your skin taut when using the device.
  • Make sure the device is always moving NEVER let it hover in one spot. You will burn your skin. I was a millisecond away from doing this. Thankfully nothing happened but just a bit of redness.
  • If your skin does get a bit red after you try it, DON’T BE ALARMED. That’s your blood coming up to the skin’s surface because the device sucks at your skin.
  • Follow up with a toner and moisturizer, of course.
  • Start off with the sensitive disc. When you’re comfortable, move on to the normal discs or you can even buy more abrasive discs if you don’t think the normal discs will do it for you.
  • Make sure you clean the discs and filter after use. I use rubbing alcohol for the discs and warm water for the filter.

I can 100% honestly say that this product has been changing my skin. If you’re consistent, I know you’ll reach the skin that you’ve always desired. Don’t get discouraged if you’re not seeing results after 2 weeks. I’d give it a month because everyone’s skin is different. But I promise you that you’ll get that glow soon enough!

Hit or Miss: Origins Original Skin™ Renewal Serum

(via sephora.com)

It’s Hit or Miss Monday time! I have to say I’ve been pretty damn consistent with these posts lately. You’re welcome 🙂

I’ve been looking for a serum to incorporate in my skin care routine because I’ve never used one. Why not? I don’t know. I just find myself always using cleansers, exfoliators, toners, masks, etc. I just never really used serums on my face. So, I asked my friend Ashley, who is also on my MUA Series, which serums she recommends. She told me to pick up this baby. Naturally, I sample things before I buy them because money doesn’t grow on trees and I hate returning products. This product is supposed to de-stress, shrink pores, minimize flaws, delete dullness, and smooth roughness. I used it for about 5 days before the sample ran out and I can honestly say I LOVE IT.

The formula is very lightweight and it works instantly. My skin felt like silk the moment I applied it. My pores were minimized, as well. Also, after 2 days I noticed my skin was glowing and much brighter. Sephora claims that this is great for women transitioning from their twenties to their thirties. I’m 22 and I needed to brighten up this skin cause of this dull NYC weather. I’m sure plenty of you fellow New Yorkers are over this weather. During the winter, my skin feels dead and it also becomes more combo than oily. I can honestly say this serum made a difference in my skin texture and brightness. I recommend it to anyone who’s looking to liven up their skin. Needless to say, it’s a HIT. You can pick it up for $39 at Sephora.

Hit or Miss: GlamGlow THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment

(via more.com)

I know I missed last week’s Hit or Miss Monday, but I was so busy with work and HELLLOOO IT WAS NY MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK! Nevertheless, I totally forgot about putting up a review for you guys. Sorry! Moving on… let’s talk skincare!

After I tried the GlamGlow SUPERMUD treatment, I was in love! So, I wanted to give another mask a shot! I went out and got a sample of the GlamGlow THIRSTYMUD, free of course! The actual product cost $69, like the rest of the masks. According to Sephora, “It moisturizes, restores, replenishes, and calms the skin. Dewdration™ boosts and locks in moisture for a dewy and youthful result while HydraPack™ leaves skin with an instant silky, soft, and supple feel. GreenEnergy™ smooths and energizes the skin, giving you a healthy-looking, glowing complexion.” Lately, I’ve been obsessed with hydrating my skin because what I found is that the more you hydrate, the less oil your skin will produce because it’s already hydrated. BAM! I mean I still have oily skin but it’s subdued.

Anyway, I used the sample for a week and I LOVE IT! First off, it smells like cocoa butter which is my utmost favorite scent on my skin! I can’t get enough. A little goes a long way. I used it every night and honestly, I may just like it a tad bit more than the Josie Maran Argan Milk because my skin does feel softer in the morning than it does with the Josie Maran Argan Milk. But don’t get me wrong, I still like the Josie Maran Argan Milk! However, this product just stole my heart and you can use it morning or night. In the morning, you can apply it and then rinse it off in 15 mins. At night, you can just leave it on overnight. I definitely think this is perfect for anyone and especially since the cooler months are soon to come. Obviously, a HIT in my book.
