Hit or Miss: Yardley’s Oatmeal & Almond Soap

It’s Monday! That means time for that weekly product review on Hit or Miss Mondays 🙂

So normally, I prefer body wash to bar soap. When I use bar soap, it’s strictly Dove. Dove body products just do wonders for my skin. However, when my family bought a pack of Yardley’s Oatmeal & Almond soap, I decided to give it a try. Oatmeal is great for skin irritation and dryness. Almond just smells good! So, I would imagine that the 2 of them together would work well on my skin.

I’ve been using this soap for about a week and it’s amazing! I can honestly say it makes my body feel a bit softer than when I use the Dove soap. This soap creates a really, rich lather and also exfoliates my skin at the time because it has these tiny exfoliating beads in it. The smell is amazing too. When I get out the shower, my skin feels like butter before I even put on lotion. It’s also gentle enough to use on your face. I really can’t think of one bad thing to say about this soap. It’s a HIT, for sure.

You can find it in most supermarkets and drugstores.

Hit or Miss: Murad’s Skin Smoothing Polish

Hey all! Lately, I’ve become a real skin care snob. All I want to do is buy new skincare products because I’m not getting any younger, haha. I’m all about prevention and you only have one skin, so you better do all you can to take care of it.

I came across this product because of Desi Perkins. She’s been recommending it on all of her skincare videos and I finally decided to try it out. I’m actually a fan of a few Murad products and I assumed that I would enjoy this product, as well. According to, this product is “a rich-creamy polishing scrub that removes embedded impurities, without stripping skin of natural moisture, revealing a more vibrant complexion.” They recommend that it be used 2-3x weekly. Needless to say, I use it as an exfoliator. The active ingredients include: witch hazel, cinnamon extract, and pomegranate seed oil.

I’ve been using this product for 3 weeks now and I highly enjoy it! It’s so finely milled that it actually feels therapeutic, as opposed to harsh, when I’m rubbing it on my skin. My skin literally feels baby soft after I use it. I also find that is helps decrease the size of any blemishes on my face. As far as scent goes, it smells like your average skincare product. Overall, this is a HIT and it’s become a staple in my skincare routine. It makes my skin feel so much better! I’d recommend this to anyone no matter your skin type.

You can get it at Sephora or Ulta for $30. I got mine off Amazon for $23.

Hit or Miss: Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer

Hey all! It’s time for a review once again. Let’s talk primer. I almost never really talk about primers on le blog because I don’t really test many. If I find one I like, I stick with it. I’ve never really dabbled into high-end primers because drugstore primers and Milk of Magnesia (MoM) work pretty well for me. However, I’ve been hearing about it for forever! I sampled it a few months ago and decided to finally get it and I finally want to share my thoughts with you.

The description from Sephora says, “This clean, satin-finish formula helps keep makeup looking fresh and prevents fading. Veil Mineral Primer also absorbs excess oils and minimizes the appearance of pores by evenly distributing light to help hide and soften skin imperfections and fine lines.” When I used this for the first time, my skin immediately felt like silk! It absorbs right into my skin & my foundation goes on flawlessly! My face looks airbrushed and my pores aren’t as visible. Also, My makeup does stay put a smidge better than when I use Maybelline’s Baby Skin or L’oreal’s Miracle Blur. I’m not too sure about the oil being absorbed and what not but I really do enjoy this product. It’s definitely a HIT for me. It also has an SPF of 15 which is a bonus. Any product that has SPF, is a bonus for me.

You can pick it up at Sephora for $52 (1 oz). I know that’s pricey but the smaller bottle (.33 oz.) for $18 will last you about 2-3 months because you only need a pump of this stuff for your face.

Hit or Miss: Origins Original Skin™ Renewal Serum

It’s Hit or Miss Monday time! I have to say I’ve been pretty damn consistent with these posts lately. You’re welcome 🙂

I’ve been looking for a serum to incorporate in my skin care routine because I’ve never used one. Why not? I don’t know. I just find myself always using cleansers, exfoliators, toners, masks, etc. I just never really used serums on my face. So, I asked my friend Ashley, who is also on my MUA Series, which serums she recommends. She told me to pick up this baby. Naturally, I sample things before I buy them because money doesn’t grow on trees and I hate returning products. This product is supposed to de-stress, shrink pores, minimize flaws, delete dullness, and smooth roughness. I used it for about 5 days before the sample ran out and I can honestly say I LOVE IT.

The formula is very lightweight and it works instantly. My skin felt like silk the moment I applied it. My pores were minimized, as well. Also, after 2 days I noticed my skin was glowing and much brighter. Sephora claims that this is great for women transitioning from their twenties to their thirties. I’m 22 and I needed to brighten up this skin cause of this dull NYC weather. I’m sure plenty of you fellow New Yorkers are over this weather. During the winter, my skin feels dead and it also becomes more combo than oily. I can honestly say this serum made a difference in my skin texture and brightness. I recommend it to anyone who’s looking to liven up their skin. Needless to say, it’s a HIT. You can pick it up for $39 at Sephora.

Hit or Miss: L’oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur

It’s Hit or Miss Monday! You guys voted and wanted a makeup product review BUT this product can be used both for skincare AND makeup. So, here we go.

I never thought about using this product until Nicole Guerriero discussed it a few times on YouTube. This product is supposed to instantly erase the look of lines, wrinkles, and pores. You can apply it after moisturizer, wear it alone or under foundation. L’oreal says it’s a “Instant Skin Smoother”.

What do I think of this product? It’s definitely a HIT. I use this as a primer but I don’t apply moisturizer before it because my skin is oily and I don’t want to add more moisture on it. After I wash my face, I apply the Miracle Blur then my foundation. I’ll tell you right now, it blurs the crap out of my pores! I have HUGE pores near my nose and chin and it’s like they never existed. I don’t have wrinkles or lines .. yet. However, I’m sure it works for that too. I didn’t buy it myself but I’m sure the prices is around $20 at the drugstore. My grandmother actually bought it and she claims to like it so I guess it does work for wrinkles and lines. This is definitely the first drugstore primer I’ve liked so if you don’t want to dish $30+ on a primer, I suggest just going to the drugstore and picking this baby up! It definitely works!
