Hit or Miss: Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Hey, darlings! I’m baaaaaaaaaaaack! I know it has been such a long hiatus, but it’s been one hell of a spring & summer. So many changes have been happening so blogging had to take a backseat for a while. However, I have a lot of new content ideas so expect to see me regularly posting.

Now, let’s get back to Hit or Miss! I’ve been using Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream for about 4 months now and I absolutely loveeeeee it. It’s basically a cream that tightens and smooths your skin, OVER TIME. So don’t expect immediate results. However, the smell and the glow it gives your skin is AMAZING! I feel more attractive and luscious when I put this on my body. Some the ingredients include: coconut oil, acai, guarana, and cupuacu butter. Also, the consistency is bit thick so a little goes a long way.

All of my friends who I’ve recommended this cream to love it! I suggest you guys buy its ASAP. You can get it the 8 oz jar at Sephora for $45. If you wanna try it before you fully commit, the travel size is $20.

Hit or Miss: St. Ives Live Radiantly VoxBox

Hello, people! So, I’ve decided to give you guys a little break on hair product reviews. I know not all of my readers have curly hair and I want everyone to benefit from my reviews. I was accepted into Influenster’s St. Ives Live Radiantly Campaign and here is what I think of the products…

Let’s start with the Fresh Skin Apricot Body Scrub. I’ve used it for 2 weeks now and I definitely notice a difference. My skin is very, very dry during the winter months. I will admit sometimes I get lazy and skip body lotion all together. When I use this in the shower, my skin feels soft immediately. I would suggest using this right after you shave so you can see how soft this product can really get your skin.

I’ve always been a fan of St. Ives body lotions. They absorb so quickly into the skin and that’s the main thing that I look for in a lotion. I hate feeling slick and sticky. If you use this lotion following the scrub, your skin will be immaculate. However, if you opt for just the lotion, your skin will still feel soft but not as soft.

Overall, I enjoyed both products and will continue to use them in unison. 🙂

Note: I’ve received these products complimentary for testing purposes.

3 Ways To Use Jamaican Black Castor Oil

DSCI0022 2

Hey, dears! I wanted to chat with you guys today about how I use Jamaican Black Castor oil on a daily basis. I came across this oil by researching natural hair tips and tricks. So, let’s jump in, shall we?

  • Hair The biggest way I use JBC is for my hair health. I rub it into my scalp about 2-3x a week. A little goes a super long way so don’t go HAM. The consistency is also thick so rub it in between you palms so it gets warm and thinner in consistency. You can also use it on your ends and as a hot oil treatment. The biggest benefit I’ve seen so far is that my hair has become stronger and grows faster.
  • Eyelashes and Eyebrows I barely have any eyelashes so I’ve been using this to see if something changes. So far, I haven’t noticed much of a difference. However, my eyebrows are definitely growing in more evenly. I naturally have full brows, but when I shape them the hair grows back a little funky. Since using this, the growth pattern is better.
  • Acne Most acne is caused by an overproduction of sebum (oil). That’s why it’s important to moisturize your face, even if you’re oily skinned. If you don’t your skin will try to compensate and that’s how pimples form. You can use JBC by just massaging a little on your problem areas then rinsing it off after 10 minutes. Make sure your pores are open before you apply the oil so your skin can fully absorb the product.

My All-Time Favorite Face Masks

image1 (5)

Hey, babes! Let’s talk skincare. I think doing a mask at least 2-3x a week is important for your skin. Masks are able to do everything that cleansers and exfoliators can’t. I’ve been wanting to do this post for a while, but I wanted to make sure that I finalized my list of favorites. So, here we go…

From least to most expensive

  • Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque ($4) is the best and most effective drugstore mask that I’ve ever used. It helps clear your skin and minimize pores. I definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget! Try mixing  it with tea tree oil = amazing.
  • Boscia’s Black Luminizing Mask ($34) is a peel-off mask that helps brighten your complexion. It doesn’t do much for acne but it helps with dullness and pores.
  • Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Masque ($40) is my all time favorite for spot treatment and full-face usage. This baby is magic and made me fall in love with PTR products because he grew up with cystic acne. So, he clearly knows what he’s doing when it comes to making an acne effective product. This baby will flatten your pimples overnight. LITERALLY.
  • GlamGlow Supermud ($69) is a pretty penny but definitely effective. You feel it working and SEE the pores being vacuumed of gunk. It’s kind of fascinating yet gross to see the bacteria that’s in your face. This works just like the PTR Sulfur Masque.

Yearly Favorites of 2015

Happy New Year! I know I have been going in and out of blogging, but the holidays and work had me on a new type of busy. However, this year I promise to be more consistent :). This is the first time I’m doing a yearly favorites post and I’m sure they’ll be more to come. I tried to add a product from every part of beauty and this is what I came out with. I honestly had to be realistic and think about things that I used constantly. Let’s just jump in, shall we?

  • Murad’s Skin Smoothing Polish is holy grail when it comes to exfoliating. The texture is so finely milled and gives you the squeaky clean feeling you’re dying for when you’ve been wearing makeup all day, every day.
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is top 3 in my high-end foundation collection. This baby lasts! It makes your skin look flawless. I’ve actual people compliment me on my complexion when I wear this. The finish is flawless. It doesn’t look cakey at all and just makes me feel simply godly. They also have a wide shade range.
  • KVD Lock-It Foundation is my second favorite when it comes to high-end foundation. The formula is on the thicker side, but the coverage is insane. I put this on and sometimes skip concealer and a little goes a long way.
  • Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless is the best drugstore foundation I’ve come across since Revlon Colorstay. I haven’t found any drugstore foundation that I’ve loved just as much as Revlon’s Colorstay and this baby comes quite close. The coverage is medium and buildable. It feels great on my skin and I basically used every week since I bought it. I have probably 2 more uses out of it until I buy a new one.
  • LA Girl Pro Conceal is the best concealer out there for frugalistas. The coverage is amazing and so is the texture. The shade range is great as well.
  • NYX’s Dark Circle Concealer is amazing for color correcting. I use this on dark spots and dark circles and it makes a super huge difference.

  • Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara is one of my holy grail mascaras from the drugstore. At first, I didn’t enjoy it but I found out how to work with it. Since then, I use it almost every day.
  • Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is my favorite high-end mascara. The amount of volume this baby gives you is insane. I use it basically every day.
  • Billion Dollar Brows Brow Powder is the best powder I’ve used for brows. I just started using it a month ago but I had to include it. It definitely was a favorite.

  • Rosebud Salve has been around forever and for good reason. This is the only thing that moisturizes my lips instantly and keeps them moisturized for a long while.
  • Maybelline Touch of Spice is my favorite pinkish lip shade and I would use it every week for like half the year. It’s super soft yet matte.
  • Coloured Raine Cherry Blossom will always be my favorite red shade. This has been my go-to red shade since I bought it.
  • KVD Lolita was another one of my go-to’s this year. I mean I don’t think this shade needs much explanation. Everyone and their mother loved this shade in 2015.

  • Marc Jacobs Daisy was my go-to fragrance this year. That’s saying a lot since I own 10 different fragrances. It’s just delicious.

Hit or Miss: Exuviance Pigment Lifting Masque

Hey, dears! Today I’ll be talking about another product sent to me via BrandBacker. As you may know, I have hyperpigmentation so I was super excited to use these babies. Here are my thoughts.

These masks have NeoGlucosamine which break up dark spots. They also have Vitamin C which amps up the brightening process. I’ve used this product 3 times. On the package, it says to use it 1-2x weekly. You basically just apply the masque onto your face after cleansing and leave it on for 10 mins. The mask has holes for your eyes, nose, and face. When I first used it, it felt sort of awkward. I’ve never used an actual mask made out of cloth material on my face. I was kind of worried it was going to fall off, but it stood put. When I removed it, I massaged the excess product into my skin and continued my normal skincare routine.

After the first use, I did notice my skin seemed brighter however I have also noticed I’ve been breaking out like crazy. Now, I’m not blaming the mask but I’m not NOT blaming it. My breakouts can be due to stress, makeup wear, etc, but nevertheless, it has been breaking out. I still used it 2 more times and noticed some great things. Even though I was breaking out, the acne scars were super light! I enjoy this product and another bonus is that it makes your skin super soft. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who suffers from dark spots. It’s definitely worth the $65.

Hit or Miss: Botanics Organic Hydrating Day Cream

Hey, dears! This is gonna be my first review from the Spice VoxBox! I was eager to use this because I’ve been looking for a new moisturizer. However, I hate thick creams that make my skin even more oily in my T-zone. I like a day cream like absorbs quickly and doesn’t make my makeup feel heavy or slip off.

When I first opened the cream, it looked thick. However, when I used it it absorbed quickly into my skin and a little goes a super long way. I’ve been using it for about a week now and I honestly really like it. Although I do prefer a moisturizer with active ingredients that also treat my skin, this one is pretty good just for hydrating. It doesn’t ruin the longevity of my makeup nor does it make my skin more oily. If you need some hydration on your skin, I’d definitely recommend it! You can get it for $12.99 at Target or Ulta.
