Beyoncé x #LEMONADE

beyonce-lemonade

(via breatheheavy.com)

Hey, dears! Let us just get right into it because you guys all know that I’m a Beyoncé stan. I am definitely a member of the Beyhive. So it’s no surprise that I’m about to talk about #LEMONADE. Now in case you live in a box with no access to the outside world, let me tell you what the hell #LEMONADE is. It is the SECOND visual album that Beyonce dropped out of nowhere. This woman knows how to make headlines! But again, no surprise.

At first, the album was only available via Tidal. Now, it’s available on iTunes and Amazon.  However, people have been sharing the whole thing via social media, specifically Facebook. When I mean the whole thing, I mean the VISUAL part. Now, if you want the tracks you may wanna check out Tidal, iTunes, Amazon… or some other sneaky method if you have one.

A big difference between her 2 visual albums is the layout and content. As oppose to “Beyonce” album, “Lemonade” is a whole story in one basically. It flows from one song to another into an hour long masterpiece. Also, this new album is basically about infidelity. There are some other topics hidden in the story, such as Black power and women power, but it’s mainly about infidelity. The stages of it. The emotions. The roller coaster. The best thing is that it’s all coming from a woman’s standpoint which makes it super relatable. Let’s be honest, every woman has been heartbroken so they’ll be able to relate to this album. Whether it’s a song or the whole album, it’s relatable.

I would honestly have to say this is probably the most artistic album Beyonce has ever done. Her last one was pretty creative but this one had deeper meaning all across the board! So if you want to be stimulated mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, WATCH IT. I’ve shared it on my Facebook so go take a look!

Let’s Get Real: Beyonce’s #Formation Music Video

beyonce-formation-single-2016-billboard-650

(via billboard.com)

Hey, all. So this post is going to get real candid and real blunt. If you have a pulse, you know that Beyonce recently released her new music video “Formation” and also performed it at the Super Bowl. However, there’s been tons of controversy about it. I wasn’t going to say anything, but as someone who is a minority, I feel like I might as well. So here we go…

First off, let me tell you what this video is about for some of you who are unsure. This video basically addresses Beyonce haters, Black power, and women power. The lyrics are plain as day. She doesn’t give a sh** about what people think about her daughter’s hair or her man’s nose. She also thinks it’s hella corny how everyone thinks the Illuminati is why she’s so successful. She also reminds us that although she is Beyonce, she is still county and African American and is F*CKING PROUD OF IT and everyone in the African American community should get in line (#formation) and be just as proud. It also addresses some of the unjust violence against African-Americans. This video is literally a visual anthem to her people aka African Americans.

So why are people upset? From what I gathered, people think that she’s ignorant and she shouldn’t be racism. To be real, most of these critics are everything BUT African-American. Since when is it wrong for a person to be proud of their culture, their heritage, their nationality??? Let me tell you something… IT’S NOT. Some went as far to say she’s promoting violence towards police. WHAT. THE. F*CK. No one was killed or threatened in that video. The only violence she’s addressing is the violence against African Americans, which happens whether there’s a music video on it or not. Is her video promoting hate or violence towards another race? Nope. What it is promoting are pride and awareness. If Jennifer Lopez released a video about being proud to be Latina, would there be this much controversy?

The fact of the matter is racism exists and it’s real. YOU may not be a racist but there are plenty of people who are, whether they’re hiding it or not. If you don’t think racism exists but you’re offended by someone else showing pride towards their own race, then you need to reevaluate your life. There is nothing wrong with showing pride and addressing real-life issues in your music. This music video does NOT need your validation. Point Blank.

Embracing Your Pear-Shaped Silhouette

Hello, ladies! About a week ago, I saw a post from Christina from ProFresh Style where she was embracing her curvy, thick figure. As a pear shaped lady myself, I thought it would be perfect to talk about the curvy pear shaped figure because I’m sure tons of women out there can relate. Also, I wanted to give some tips and tricks to accentuate that figure NOT hide it! Now don’t misunderstand me. All body shapes are beautiful and unique. I’m not over here quoting Nicki Minaj saying, “F*ck them skinny b*tches.” No. This is not a post to bash any other body type. However, since I can’t relate to those body types I don’t want to just dish random info I found on the internet. I want to make this post more personable and relatable.

So, what does pear shaped exactly mean? Pear shaped basically means your hips, thighs, and booty take center stage on your body. It means your lower half is wider than your shoulders. You also have a defined waist and a smaller bust. Some well-known pear shaped ladies include Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Shakira, Leighton Meester, and Alicia Keys. It’s actually a very popular body shape. Pear shape doesn’t necessarily mean you’re thick either, it just means you have a curve to your body.

Back then, the goal was to be skinny. Let’s just keep it real here. If you’ve ever seen the Buzzfeed post where they do a whole “fashion history” kind of video thingy, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. However, these days social media is obsessed with the big booty and full hips. So, thanks, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, J.Lo, etc. Whether the booty is real or not, people are obsessed with it LOL. Anyway, I digress. The point is there is a shift. People are trying to accentuate instead of hide their curves. So here is what I find works best for us pear shaped ladies.

  • Accentuating your hips and defined waist – The best way that I achieve this is by wearing pencil skirts and high waisted pants/jeans. These will make those hips and booty look amazing. I’m literally obsessed with anything high waisted because it makes me feel like Selena. ❤ She was also a pear shaped beauty. Boot cut and straight cut jeans are great too since they make your legs look longer.
  • Balance out your lower half – Since your bust is smaller you can get away with some killer necklines to balance things out. Wide V and U necklines are great for pear shaped bodies. Also, embellishing with accessories is a great way to balance that shape out.
  • Midi is EVERYTHING – Having a pear shaped body doesn’t necessarily mean you have the huge butt. It means you have a wide lower half. However, if you also have a booty and you find that skirts or dresses ride up when you walk, midi skirts and dresses are your besties. Trust me, I KNOW THE STRUGGLE. I can’t wear anything form fitting that’s more than an inch above my knee. Otherwise, I’d be tugging on it all day. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Those are the 3 things I keep in mind when I’m getting dressed. They’ve never failed me! I hope this helps you fellow pear-shaped ladies out there. If you guys have any suggestions, let a girl know 😉

Best & Worst Dressed: Met Gala 2015

I know it’s a bit late in the day but better late than never. This blog was in need of a red carpet fashion post so here it is. Last night’s Met Gala was themed China: Through the Looking Glass. Just a disclaimer, I didn’t like much of the fashion at the Met Gala this year. I was left unimpressed and disappointed. So, let’s just start…

Best Dressed

Siena Miller (via hollywoodreporter.com)

This outfit doesn’t make me say “Oh my God!”, “Stunning.”, “Gorgeous”, etc but it does leave me saying “Unique” in a good way. Plus, I see the Chinese theme.

Beyonce (via hollywoodreporter.com)

I love me some Queen Bey. Although I think she looks gorgeous in this outfit, I expected more. Mesh with jewels isn’t going to “wow” me, especially when it’s Beyonce! But she did look gorgeous last night. So needless to say, she’s one of the best dressed. I do hate that hair though!

Rihanna (via mtv,com)

Rihanna pulled this off seamlessly! Why? This outfit is “out there” to the point where I don’t understand it but I love it. Again though, I’m not a fan of the hair.

Lizzy Caplan (via laineygossip.com)

I absolutely love everything about this! Everything.

Keri Russell (via usmagazine.com)

I love the color and I love that the dress looks scaly. It gives me the dangerous mermaid/bird hybrid vibe. It’s gorgeous.

Worst Dressed

Let me start off by saying, I couldn’t narrow this down to 6 or less so I’m just gonna group them. Here we go…

 Okay…

Solange – What? It IS unique but just too confusing.

Chloe Sevigny – Good try at trying to emulate the theme but it’s not good.

Elizabeth Banks – It’s the red carpet. It’s the MET GALA. It’s themed. Get with it. That dress is beyond basic.

Irina Shayk – It reminds me of something a 90s girl would wear to prom.

Anne Hathaway – Basic and I know she can do better.

Katy Perry – Team too much.

Kim K – That gown does nothing for her but makes her shoulders look to wide. When I look at it, I think “armor”.

Chloe Grace Moretz – Again, can we at least try. That dress is not cute nor close to the theme.

Best & Worst Dressed: The Grammys 2015

The red carpet at the Grammys had plenty of hits and misses. Let’s just get right to it…

Best Dressed

Beyonce (via glamour.com)

Queen Bey slays the red carpet 90% of the time. I think the last time i HATED her outfit was at the Met Gala in 2013.

Nicki Minaj (via glamour.com)

This gown….I’m here for it. Nicki gave me the ultimate life last night with this look. Everything is on point! The hair, the makeup, the accessories, EVERYTHING!

Gwen Stefani (via usmagazine.com)

Gwen Stefani is another one drinking from the fountain of youth! This outfit suits her personality perfectly!

Taylor Swift (via mtv.com)

Taylor Swift may not be my fave but this gown is beautiful, especially the color. I like that she paired it with fuschia shoes.

Rocsi Diaz (via theybf.com)

Rocsi Diaz was just glistening and giving us body on the red carpet. LOVE IT!

Katy Perry (via eonline.com)

Stunning! This mid-length dress is STUNNING! I’m glad she decided short hair for this look cause I don’t think long hair would mesh just as nicely.

Worst Dressed

Iggy Azalea (zap2it.com)

I hate the bottom of this dress AND what the hell is up with that hair? She reminds me of a German milkmaid. Braids can look gorgeous but that hairstyle was a flop!

Carlie XCX (via eonline.com)

TOO MUCH GOING ON HERE.

Madonna (via eonline.com)

Madonna is always one to make a statement but this is more of a costume. I wouldn’t mind if she wore this while performing but not on the red carpet.

Rihanna (via glamour.com)

I LOVE Bad Gyal Ri Ri! She has never been on my worst dressed list but this gown killed me. I don’t have a problem that she wanted to give that big fluffy princess vibe but NOT with tulle fabric, especially PINK tulle fabric. I hate to say that she reminds me of a loofah. So many memes have been bashing this outfit and I don’t blame anyone.

Kim Kardashian (brit.co)

I like that she’s giving luxe but this looks like a bathrobe. The sleeves are too long and the shoulders are throwing me off. But, I do love her new hair!

Jane Fonda (via ok.uk.co)

Jane Fonda just looks like she’s about to fight crime.

Joy Villa (via popcrush.com)

Now this right here is a prime example of TRYING TO LOOK LIKE CRAP. If you want to dress in construction net, be my guest. Just don’t say you thought it was high fashion or glam.

Kanye Attempts Another Grammy Stunt

(via mirror.co.uk)

The Grammys are my ultimate favorite award show, without a doubt. Music is the one form of entertainment has the biggest impact on our lives. Last night didn’t disappoint. AC/DC’s opening performance was amazing. Beyonce gave a godly performance, followed by Common and John Legend. Kanye West almost pulled another stunt when Beck won Album of the Year instead of Beyonce. The Carters’ reaction to Kanye’s attempt to embarrass another artist on stage in Bey’s defense is priceless…

But don’t get it twisted. Just because Kanye didn’t go through with interrupting Beck on stage doesn’t mean he wasn’t upset. “I don’t know what he said, all I know is if the Grammys want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more….Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce, and at this point, we tired of it,” Kanye said with his usual irritated tone. I definitely was just as disappointed that Beyonce didn’t win. However, I am glad he didn’t go through with it.

Beyonce Launches Vegan Meal Delivery Service

Hey all! So as we know, Beyonce is not only an entertainer but a business woman. So, it should come as no surprise that she decided to launch a vegan meal delivery service called 22 Days Nutrition – because like they say, it takes 21 days to break a bad habit. If you don’t know, Beyonce and Jay Z have both dabbled in veganism in 2013  for 22 days. Some people are even calling this “The Beyonce Diet”.

The meals are delivered once a week and are 100% plant based. All the ingredients are non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free and organic. Beyonce states, “All you have to do is try. If I can do it, anyone can”. As far as price, it’s 9.76 to $16.50 each meal. That’s not bad at all since the food IS vegan after all. Anything healthy is pricy, that’s a known fact!

So, if you wanna #EatLikeBeyonce sign up here.
