Hit or Miss: Studio Gear Prime Objective Perfecting Face Primer

dsci0156

Hey, all! I’m coming at you with a face primer review today. I received this primer from BrandBacker and I’ve been using it for about a week. Here are my thoughts…

First off, let’s talk about what this primer claims. The description on the Studio Gear websites says, “

“Prime Objective Face Primer is a silicone-based face primer that not only smooths surface imperfections for an incredibly bright complexion, but it also includes rejuvenating ingredients such as retinol and milk protein 20 that condition, balance, and protect the skin from environmental stresses. Optical diffusers further enhance the complexion by lightening and brightening!”

Now, I’ve only used this product for about a week but I can say I’ve noticed an immediate difference. This  primer blurred all my imperfections more than any other primer I’ve ever used. My makeup would look airbrushed every single time I would use it. It definitely helped my makeup application as well.

I would also like to add that a little goes a long way for this primer (at least for me). My problem areas are nose, cheeks, and chin and with one pump I could prime my whole face. I’ve used a lot of primers whether they be drugstore or high-end, but I can honestly this primer is top 3. This primer retails for $30 but I do have a 10% coupon code for you guys! To get 10% off any purchase at Studio Gear use the code: BB. For more info, click here.

** FYI: This post is sponsored but all opinions are my own, as always!**

TGIF! I told you guys I’d be consistent with the MUA Series and this is me delivering 🙂 Let me introduce you to this talented beauty who is all about THE GLOW, Amanda. As a sophomore in high school, Amanda would watch her mother do her makeup every morning. Her mother would wear different colors on her eyes and indulge in the infamous smokey eye – that is when Amanda fell in love with makeup. Once she graduated high school, she waited a year, went to straight to being an MUA at MAC and never looked back!

MUA Spotlight On: Valery Clermont

Hey dolls! As you know, it’s been a super long time since I’ve had a makeup artist on the blog. It just wasn’t working out,  deadlines weren’t being met but fear no more – we’re back at it! Let me introduce you to this talented, 24 year old, Brooklyn native named Valery. Valery is currently a makeup artist at Sephora and has been doing makeup for 4 years. She started wearing makeup at young age due to the fact that she was a competitive dancer, so it was required. However, she was always fascinated with the fact that you can completely transform yourself with just the touch of a brush. So, she became really interested in makeup and different techniques. Throughout the years, she used her friends as test dummies until she felt completely confident to pursue it professionally.

An easy beauty trick is applying a small amount of your eyeshadow primer under your eyes before applying concealer. It increases the longevity of your concealer and prevents some creasing and settling into fine lines, but always remember to set your undereye with a translucent powder.

Hit or Miss: Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer

(via sephora.com)

Hey all! It’s time for a review once again. Let’s talk primer. I almost never really talk about primers on le blog because I don’t really test many. If I find one I like, I stick with it. I’ve never really dabbled into high-end primers because drugstore primers and Milk of Magnesia (MoM) work pretty well for me. However, I’ve been hearing about it for forever! I sampled it a few months ago and decided to finally get it and I finally want to share my thoughts with you.

The description from Sephora says, “This clean, satin-finish formula helps keep makeup looking fresh and prevents fading. Veil Mineral Primer also absorbs excess oils and minimizes the appearance of pores by evenly distributing light to help hide and soften skin imperfections and fine lines.” When I used this for the first time, my skin immediately felt like silk! It absorbs right into my skin & my foundation goes on flawlessly! My face looks airbrushed and my pores aren’t as visible. Also, My makeup does stay put a smidge better than when I use Maybelline’s Baby Skin or L’oreal’s Miracle Blur. I’m not too sure about the oil being absorbed and what not but I really do enjoy this product. It’s definitely a HIT for me. It also has an SPF of 15 which is a bonus. Any product that has SPF, is a bonus for me.

You can pick it up at Sephora for $52 (1 oz). I know that’s pricey but the smaller bottle (.33 oz.) for $18 will last you about 2-3 months because you only need a pump of this stuff for your face.

She was amazed! She was only 8 or 9 and she loved to draw and paint, so walking  into this place where there were so many colors and beautiful makeup artists set something off in her. My one absolute pet peeve when it comes to other people’s makeup is the the use of wrong color. I see it most with brows, foundation and blush, there is nothing worse than seeing bright pink blush all over the cheekbones as if it were bronzer.

Share a beauty tip/trick/hack.. whatever you’d like to call it. Lol

The one tip I would give and use myself everyday is rosewater.  I mix half rose water and half witch hazel into a small spray bottle and use that as a toner, I love that it gets rid of any makeup, dirt and oil my cleanser may have left behind. It keeps my skin clean and smelling like roses.

What’s the best way for future clients to reach you?

Hit or Miss: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

(via sephora.com)

Hey darlings! I have been dying to review this foundation but I kept putting it off just to make sure all my opinions were final. So here we go…

So many beauty gurus have been talking about this foundation for a while. I was so anxious to get my hands on it and as usual, I took a sample first. My shade is 5W1 (Bronze) which is a smidge darker than my MAC shade NC44 but it’s what fits me best. This foundation claims to last 15 hours long and have natural coverage. It’s also oil free and lightweight.

Before I even say what I think, let me make clear that my skin type is combination during winter. My nose and chin get oily but the rest of the face is normal. During winter months, my makeup rubs off my nose and chin but stays on everywhere else – annoying, I know. The biggest problem is makeup transfer! I can use any primer and powder under the sun but I will still have makeup transfer to deal with. I’ve been on the never ending search of transfer free makeup. Some transfer more than others, obviously, but I want something that virtually doesn’t transfer at all!

Now that we have the background info done, let’s get back to my opinion. I ADORE THIS FOUNDATION. The coverage is medium to full and very buildable.  I get oily in my T-zone about 5 hours after makeup application and that’s when the makeup transfer gates open. However, this magic in a bottle BARELY transfers. I mean BARELY. When I dabbed my nose and chin, I barely saw any foundation. When I got home, this foundation is still on… 10 hours later! It’s serious magic. I recommend it to anyone who has oily or combo skin! A HIT in the foundation books! You can pick it up at Sephora for $37.

Best & Worst Dressed: The Grammys 2015

The red carpet at the Grammys had plenty of hits and misses. Let’s just get right to it…

Best Dressed

Beyonce (via glamour.com)

Queen Bey slays the red carpet 90% of the time. I think the last time i HATED her outfit was at the Met Gala in 2013.

Nicki Minaj (via glamour.com)

This gown….I’m here for it. Nicki gave me the ultimate life last night with this look. Everything is on point! The hair, the makeup, the accessories, EVERYTHING!

Gwen Stefani (via usmagazine.com)

Gwen Stefani is another one drinking from the fountain of youth! This outfit suits her personality perfectly!

Taylor Swift (via mtv.com)

Taylor Swift may not be my fave but this gown is beautiful, especially the color. I like that she paired it with fuschia shoes.

Rocsi Diaz (via theybf.com)

Rocsi Diaz was just glistening and giving us body on the red carpet. LOVE IT!

Katy Perry (via eonline.com)

Stunning! This mid-length dress is STUNNING! I’m glad she decided short hair for this look cause I don’t think long hair would mesh just as nicely.

Worst Dressed

Iggy Azalea (zap2it.com)

I hate the bottom of this dress AND what the hell is up with that hair? She reminds me of a German milkmaid. Braids can look gorgeous but that hairstyle was a flop!

Carlie XCX (via eonline.com)

TOO MUCH GOING ON HERE.

Madonna (via eonline.com)

Madonna is always one to make a statement but this is more of a costume. I wouldn’t mind if she wore this while performing but not on the red carpet.

Rihanna (via glamour.com)

I LOVE Bad Gyal Ri Ri! She has never been on my worst dressed list but this gown killed me. I don’t have a problem that she wanted to give that big fluffy princess vibe but NOT with tulle fabric, especially PINK tulle fabric. I hate to say that she reminds me of a loofah. So many memes have been bashing this outfit and I don’t blame anyone.

Kim Kardashian (brit.co)

I like that she’s giving luxe but this looks like a bathrobe. The sleeves are too long and the shoulders are throwing me off. But, I do love her new hair!

Jane Fonda (via ok.uk.co)

Jane Fonda just looks like she’s about to fight crime.

Joy Villa (via popcrush.com)

Now this right here is a prime example of TRYING TO LOOK LIKE CRAP. If you want to dress in construction net, be my guest. Just don’t say you thought it was high fashion or glam.
