Hit or Miss: Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

DSCI0126

Hey, darlings! I’m baaaaaaaaaaaack! I know it has been such a long hiatus, but it’s been one hell of a spring & summer. So many changes have been happening so blogging had to take a backseat for a while. However, I have a lot of new content ideas so expect to see me regularly posting.

Now, let’s get back to Hit or Miss! I’ve been using Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream for about 4 months now and I absolutely loveeeeee it. It’s basically a cream that tightens and smooths your skin, OVER TIME. So don’t expect immediate results. However, the smell and the glow it gives your skin is AMAZING! I feel more attractive and luscious when I put this on my body. Some the ingredients include: coconut oil, acai, guarana, and cupuacu butter. Also, the consistency is bit thick so a little goes a long way.

All of my friends who I’ve recommended this cream to love it! I suggest you guys buy its ASAP. You can get it the 8 oz jar at Sephora for $45. If you wanna try it before you fully commit, the travel size is $20.

Hit or Miss: City Color Cosmetics Perfecting Palette

DSCI0048

Hey, babes! I’m going to give you guys a little break from hair product reviews. Let’s get back to makeup!

Color correcting has been all the rave lately. It’s being showcased everywhere -YouTube, Instagram, Sephora, etc. Usually, I only use peach and orange to color correct because my main issue is dark circles and dark spots. However, I realize that I have some red veins on my nose area which calls for a green corrector. I was looking for a decent palette that had the shades I need and then I came across this gem. City Color Cosmetics sells a few color correcting palettes at super affordable prices. I decided to pick up this one because of the color selection. The 2 concealers are perfect for my skin tone and the color correcting shades meet my needs.

I’ve been using this palette for about a month now and I have no complaints. The consistency is creamy and the pigmentation is great. A little goes a long way. If you put too much, it’ll be a pain to blend your foundation over it. I use the green for my red veins and he peach for my dark spots and circles. I haven’t used the yellow yet but yellow is very versatile for correcting – it’s great for brightening. I use the other 2 concealers for cleaning up the brow area. Overall, this palette is great for someone who’s just beginning to color correct and/or doesn’t have much color correcting to do. You can get it at the City Color Cosmetics website for $6!

Hit or Miss: As I Am Coconut CoWash

DSCI0008

Hey, dears! I’m back it again with the hair product reviews :)! I was asked to do a review on this by my lovely fellow blogging gal Nicole so here we are.

I’m a huge fan of co-washing because keeping your hair moisturized is super important, especially when you have curls. Shampoo is cool but shampoo tends to give me this disgusting feeling when I use it, even if I use sulfate free. Also, shampoo will never give you half the moisture that a conditioner will. That’s just plain fact.

I’ve been using this co-wash for about a month and I have to say it’s pretty amazing. First off, it smells like coconut mixed with something else very pleasant. Who doesn’t love the smell of coconut?! This product also makes detangling a breeze and gets rid of product build-up very easily. I can honestly finger detangle instead of using a comb and get the same results. It also helps retain and add moisture to your hair. I use it once a week and I wouldn’t trade it in for anything! It makes my thick hair very easy to manage and who doesn’t want that?

You can get it for $9 pretty much anywhere. – drugstores, online, Sally’s, etc.

Hit or Miss: St. Ives Live Radiantly VoxBox

DSCI0006

Hello, people! So, I’ve decided to give you guys a little break on hair product reviews. I know not all of my readers have curly hair and I want everyone to benefit from my reviews. I was accepted into Influenster’s St. Ives Live Radiantly Campaign and here is what I think of the products…

Let’s start with the Fresh Skin Apricot Body Scrub. I’ve used it for 2 weeks now and I definitely notice a difference. My skin is very, very dry during the winter months. I will admit sometimes I get lazy and skip body lotion all together. When I use this in the shower, my skin feels soft immediately. I would suggest using this right after you shave so you can see how soft this product can really get your skin.

I’ve always been a fan of St. Ives body lotions. They absorb so quickly into the skin and that’s the main thing that I look for in a lotion. I hate feeling slick and sticky. If you use this lotion following the scrub, your skin will be immaculate. However, if you opt for just the lotion, your skin will still feel soft but not as soft.

Overall, I enjoyed both products and will continue to use them in unison. 🙂

Note: I’ve received these products complimentary for testing purposes.

Hit or Miss: Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie

DSCI0011

Hey, babes! It’s Hit or Miss timeeeeee :). I know lately I’ve been talking about only hair products, but I think it’s a nice break from all makeup. So, let’s get right to it!

I’ve heard RAVES about this product. I mean I haven’t heard one bad thing about it. Literally. As a transitioning curly haired girl, I had to get my hands on it! I wanted to see if the hype was real. The description on Ulta.com says, “SheaMoisture’s Coconut Hibiscus Smoothie with its nutrient rich vegetable butters condition hair, restoring moisture, body and shine. Enhances curls, minimizes frizz and provides curl control. For thick, curly hair. Sulfate-free and color-safe.”

When I saw the reviews and the description, I was like “Time to go to the drugstore”. I’ve been using this product since I started my natural hair journey and let me tell you…..this ish right here is BOMB. At first, I wasn’t “in love” but that was basically because my hair was in terrible shape and a product can only do so much. After I trimmed my hair, I noticed the product worked so much better. My curls are super soft, more defined, and smell AMAZING. I will say that a little goes a long way since the product is pretty thick. However, if you see white residue on your hair, don’t worry because the product dries clear.

I would suggest this to ANYONE who’s living the curly hair life and/or transitioning. This product will make you regain faith in your hair and help you stay consistent with that journey. It yields actual results! You can get it at the drugstore or Ulta for $11-13, depending on the location.

Hit or Miss: DevaCurl’s SuperCream Coconut Curl Styler

DSCI0073

Hey, loves! I know it’s been a hot minute since I’ve done a review, but here I am. The reason I’ve been slacking on reviews is basically because I haven’t been trying tons of new products lately. However, expect that to change! Since you all know that I’ve decided to let my natural hair flourish, let’s talk about a hair product that I’ve been loving!

I’ve been looking into DevaCurl since the moment I decided to embrace my curls 100%. The price range is a bit up there, but I’ve heard nothing but great things so I said let me just try a few products. SuperCream is basically a styler that defines your curls, tames frizz, softens, boosts volume, controls, etc. It basically does everything!

I absolutely love this product! I use it basically every day. This helps me slay my baby hairs, tame frizz, and add definition to the parts of my hair that lack oompf! Anybody who has curly definitely needs this baby! If you’re going to try anything from DevaCurl, let it be this. You can get it at Sephora for $28. It may seem like a lot for a styling product, but a little goes a long way. I use half a pump when I’m taming frizz and 3 pumps for my whole head.

Hit or Miss: Exuviance Pigment Lifting Masque

ix9gkzd

Hey, dears! Today I’ll be talking about another product sent to me via BrandBacker. As you may know, I have hyperpigmentation so I was super excited to use these babies. Here are my thoughts.

These masks have NeoGlucosamine which break up dark spots. They also have Vitamin C which amps up the brightening process. I’ve used this product 3 times. On the package, it says to use it 1-2x weekly. You basically just apply the masque onto your face after cleansing and leave it on for 10 mins. The mask has holes for your eyes, nose, and face. When I first used it, it felt sort of awkward. I’ve never used an actual mask made out of cloth material on my face. I was kind of worried it was going to fall off, but it stood put. When I removed it, I massaged the excess product into my skin and continued my normal skincare routine.

After the first use, I did notice my skin seemed brighter however I have also noticed I’ve been breaking out like crazy. Now, I’m not blaming the mask but I’m not NOT blaming it. My breakouts can be due to stress, makeup wear, etc, but nevertheless, it has been breaking out. I still used it 2 more times and noticed some great things. Even though I was breaking out, the acne scars were super light! I enjoy this product and another bonus is that it makes your skin super soft. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who suffers from dark spots. It’s definitely worth the $65.
