Hit or Miss: Studio Gear Prime Objective Perfecting Face Primer

dsci0156

Hey, all! I’m coming at you with a face primer review today. I received this primer from BrandBacker and I’ve been using it for about a week. Here are my thoughts…

First off, let’s talk about what this primer claims. The description on the Studio Gear websites says, “

“Prime Objective Face Primer is a silicone-based face primer that not only smooths surface imperfections for an incredibly bright complexion, but it also includes rejuvenating ingredients such as retinol and milk protein 20 that condition, balance, and protect the skin from environmental stresses. Optical diffusers further enhance the complexion by lightening and brightening!”

Now, I’ve only used this product for about a week but I can say I’ve noticed an immediate difference. This  primer blurred all my imperfections more than any other primer I’ve ever used. My makeup would look airbrushed every single time I would use it. It definitely helped my makeup application as well.

I would also like to add that a little goes a long way for this primer (at least for me). My problem areas are nose, cheeks, and chin and with one pump I could prime my whole face. I’ve used a lot of primers whether they be drugstore or high-end, but I can honestly this primer is top 3. This primer retails for $30 but I do have a 10% coupon code for you guys! To get 10% off any purchase at Studio Gear use the code: BB. For more info, click here.

Hey, beauties! Happy Friday! Let me introduce you guys to the gorgeous Maria ♥. Maria currently lives in Miami, Florida. She began to build her kit and investing in herself about 6 years ago and has executed looks for a few women in the hip hop & modeling industry along with a Cover Print. She currently works for  MAC Cosmetics at Aventura Mall, which is a Global Door & #4 in the world. She has been with the company for 2 1/2 years now & still has her own business work as a freelancer outside of her amazing job!

Q&A

What is your favorite high-end brand?

My favorite hIgh-end brand I love would be MAC Cosmetics of course! But definitely have a thing for Kevyn Aucoin & Laura Mercier!

What are 3 makeup items you couldn’t possibly live without?

I couldn’t live without my Kevyn Aucoin, skin enhancer, Laura Mercier Translucent loose powder, MAC Mineralize Skin Finish compact powder, and MAC Fix +, along with brushes. Also, Anastasia’s Dipbrow in Ebony. Ugh! To be real, I couldn’t live without at least a medium size makeup bag!! LOL

What’s your favorite drugstore brand?

My favorite drugstore brand I would say is L’oreal because I absolutely love their mascaras & black gel liners! It’s the smoothest liner I have used yet to date!

What type of beauty product do you buy the most of (mascaras, concealers, lipsticks etc)?

I am a beauty product hoarder of lipsticks and eyeshadows! I think I have about 95 lipsticks and so many eyeshadow palettes from MAC, Urban Decay, Stila, Lorac, Nars, Too Faced and I believe I will continue that forever LOL. I’m also falling in love with primers – lip primers, lash primers, face primers! They really make a difference!!

What is the most common makeup faux pas that you see?

Hmm.. BROWS! I myself take pride in being a Brow Queen. I could give anyone amazing brows. I’ve been seeing blocky brows and brows that look so shiny and unnatural! Also, not lining your lips I truly believe a lip liner is always needed whether you overline or not! As a professional makeup artist working in the beauty industry, I just love an amazing finished lip with beautiful brows!

Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely?

Beauty Budget? What’s that?? haha!! I am terrible with budgets! I pretty much spend on whatever I feel I LOVE and never on something I feel I would never use on myself or for my kit. When I enter a beauty store, it’s like the gates of heaven open up and I hear angels! Nothing else matters.

What’s your favorite lipstick?

My favorite lipstick? As in just ONE? Sheesh…. that’s impossible I absolutely love Limecrime liquid lipsticks in all colors. Also, Anastasia liquid lipsticks in all colors. I LOVE LOVE LOVE MAC. Okay, ya’ll ready for my list? Here it goes! Blankety, HoneyLove, Fleshpot, FlatOut Fabulous, Diva, Sin, Cyber, RiRi Woo (limited), Heroine, Stone… and a few more :).

Describe your everyday makeup look.

Wow, my everyday makeup Look is always a finished full face because of my job! So, I always switch up eye shadow styles and techniques from a beauty look to natural to grungy. That’s what I love about makeup. You can always change things up and still SLAY!

What’s your favorite mascara?

My favorite mascara would be between L’oreal Voluminous & MAC Haute & Naughty! They both have amazing brushes and formulas! I love the consistency and how it applies.

Is there any celebrity that you get your makeup inspiration from & why that celebrity?

A celebrity makeup style that inspires me would hands down have to be Dascha Polanco & her artist Jay Suarez! Hands down. Every time he touches her face it is glam. It is clean. It is natural and is EVERYTHING! He executes amazing looks on her every time and never fails the makeup gods!

Do you have some favorite beauty gurus? If so, who?

My favorite Beauty Guru would definitely be the god himself, Scott Barnes. Also, Renny Vazquez and of course, my fellow MAC brother Romero Jennings!! I really don’t believe I need to explain why. They are by far the most amazing in my opinion.

If you could leave the house with only ONE makeup product, which would it be?

Wow.. what a question.. just thinking about it feels like torture! If I HAD to leave with just ONE.. it would be chapstick!! haha!!

Are there any brands that you try to avoid?

The only thing I try to avoid is lash glue with latex because I’m allergic! Other than that, if I love it it’s mine.

Do you usually “haul” or buy items here & there?

I HAUL, HAUL, HAUL, HAUL. I rarely have time to shop for myself because I’m always with my babies. When I do get some free time, I go IN and ALL OUT and rack up on everything I love!

What’s your favorite skincare brand?

I currently love Dermalogica and I just started using Clarisonic. Their line is so far so good.

What is one beauty tool/brush that you’d recommend to anyone?

MAC brushes! Nothing like MAC brushes, especially #217. That’s holy grail right there!

What is one beauty product that you’d recommend to ANYONE & why?

I would definitely recommend Laura Mercier loose powder! I had it for a while and once I got the chance to try it, I have never put it away! That and also Urban Decay setting spray!!

If you had to give up one makeup item for the rest of your life, which would it be?

Hmmmm…. I would say lip gloss. I have so many but rarely use any.

Where do you see your makeup career in the next 5 years?

Great question! I’m currently working my way up MAC and hope to be a Senior Artist for sure! I see my work on not only celebrities but definitely in some magazines & red carpets! Hey… a girl can DREAM!

Share a beauty tip/trick/hack.. whatever you’d like to call it. Lol

Use line filler to fill in fine lines on your lips and watch those babies plump up! Also, use a business card when applying mascara behind lashes to avoid getting the product on skin!

What’s the best way for future clients to reach you?

Hit or Miss: Becca Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector

(via beccacosmetics.com)

Hey dolls!

Now let’s talk face primer! I’m an oily beast. I know I say that in almost every skincare/makeup post but IT’S SERIOUS. I’m an oil well and I’m always looking for things to control it. My friend Ashley, who was also in the MUA series (check her out here), told me about the Becca matte primer. I first asked for a sample at Sephora and tried it out. According to Sephora.com, it says that the product is, “A targeted oil-control primer that perfects and minimizes pores for mattified skin that lasts up to 12 hours”. The famous question is does it do the job? I say YES!

This primer definitely is matte and it most definitely minimizes pores. Does it last for 12 hours? Hmmmm, not so much. However, I still love this primer. The moment you put it on your skin, you know it’s matte. You have to warm the primer up in your hands before you apply because if not you’ll have a chalky finish and it won’t apply easily to the skin. After you apply your makeup, you face will most definitely be matte but I personally started getting oily 7-8 hours later. Sometimes 6 hours, due to the weather. However, I don’t get as oily as I did with past primers such as L’oreal’s Miracle Blur or Maybelline’s Baby Skin. Looking back, I’d suggest those products with people who aren’t very oily or who want dewy skin. For people who love matte makeup, go with this primer! It’s a HIT! Even if it didn’t lasts 12 hours for me, I still love it! You can buy it at Sephora for $36.
