Beyoncé x #LEMONADE

Hey, dears! Let us just get right into it because you guys all know that I’m a Beyoncé stan. I am definitely a member of the Beyhive. So it’s no surprise that I’m about to talk about #LEMONADE. Now in case you live in a box with no access to the outside world, let me tell you what the hell #LEMONADE is. It is the SECOND visual album that Beyonce dropped out of nowhere. This woman knows how to make headlines! But again, no surprise.

At first, the album was only available via Tidal. Now, it’s available on iTunes and Amazon.  However, people have been sharing the whole thing via social media, specifically Facebook. When I mean the whole thing, I mean the VISUAL part. Now, if you want the tracks you may wanna check out Tidal, iTunes, Amazon… or some other sneaky method if you have one.

A big difference between her 2 visual albums is the layout and content. As oppose to “Beyonce” album, “Lemonade” is a whole story in one basically. It flows from one song to another into an hour long masterpiece. Also, this new album is basically about infidelity. There are some other topics hidden in the story, such as Black power and women power, but it’s mainly about infidelity. The stages of it. The emotions. The roller coaster. The best thing is that it’s all coming from a woman’s standpoint which makes it super relatable. Let’s be honest, every woman has been heartbroken so they’ll be able to relate to this album. Whether it’s a song or the whole album, it’s relatable.

I would honestly have to say this is probably the most artistic album Beyonce has ever done. Her last one was pretty creative but this one had deeper meaning all across the board! So if you want to be stimulated mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, WATCH IT. I’ve shared it on my Facebook so go take a look!

MUA Spotlight On: Ashlee Briscoe

Welcome back to MUA Spotlight! Time to introduce you to Sephora girl, Ashlee!

Ashlee is from Washington D.C. and currently majoring in Arts, specifically in the areas of fashion design and photography. She’s  always been artistically inclined – drawing, painting, building and creating things has always been very easy to her. She actually was able to draw full body figures by third grade. She didn’t get into makeup until her first year of college. She was complete tomboy growing up and barely wore Chapstick and lip gloss. She hated the idea of makeup. She thought it was superficial and just made women hide what they were born with. In college, she began buying lipsticks often at Sephora but would seldomly wear them. She realized couldn’t commit to her makeup journey because she wasn’t well versed in makeup or how to apply it. Then she decided to check out MAC Cosmetics and eventually met an employee who educated and inspired her. Ashlee then decided to start her makeup journey fill throttle! She had a love for photography so she  spent hours playing in makeup and then taking pictures. Instagram had become her portfolio. Eventually, she had this bright idea that she should go to school for makeup. She was in makeup artistry school for about 9 weeks which she says were the BEST NINE WEEKS OF HER LIFE! Her craft instantly  improved, especially because of the art background. It was very easy for her to grasp concepts quickly. She became certified and the rest is history! She genuinely loves what she does. She’s done all types of makeup – Bridal, Special Events, Halloween, Prom, etc. Now, she understands how makeup shouldn’t be looked at as superficial, but the simple fact that she can be apart of someone’s special day or even building self esteem. For that, she is totally on board. She likes the education and most importantly the artistry aspect. She is able to test and improve her skills every time and create masterpieces. What artist doesn’t have that dream? And she loves that!!

Q&A

What is your favorite high-end brand?

My favorite high end brand would be Armani or YSL, simply because of their foundations. I am so picky about foundations and the luminous silk by Armani and the fusion ink by YSL are to die for! They have a serum like texture, but they pack so much pigmentation. Which allows you to build foundation from pretty much medium and up or you can mix it with moisturizer to sheer it out and it goes on so beautifully. I love foundations with versatility. If I want a full coverage I can achieve that with out feeling like I have 50 pounds on my face. I’m super excited to get my hands on some of Tom Ford’s products!!

What are 3 makeup items you couldn’t possibly live without?

I could not live without Lipstick, concealer, and or a brow product. Brows are everything! They play the most important role in makeup. Brows can make or break a look and if you dont wear anything, wear a brow it can totally take you from zombie to human lol. Concealer because of consistency. We naturally have about three different shades in the face and a little consistency in complexion ties everything together. Lipstick, adds the finishing touches, if you don’t wear anything lipstick adds the drama to the face. A little color can’t hurt.

What’s your favorite drugstore brand?

My favorite drug store brand is elf ! One product I can’t live without from the brand is the gel eyeliner. Hands down the best eyeliner in the game ! lol and it’s only $3 LOVE IT !!

What type of beauty product do you buy the most of (mascaras, concealers, lipsticks etc)?

I buy a lot of lipsticks and highlighting powders lol. I own over one hundred lipsticks at the moment lol. Highlighters are everything I like to over highlight with shimmer powders, but then I spray hella setting spray to soften the powders. Try it if you haven’t it’ll make everything look like skin.

What is the most common makeup faux pas that you see?

It’s between the concealer that isn’t your shade on top of the brow and not blending in your lip liner and lipstick, having that hard contour around the lips…. Sorry I have to add one more lol I don’t understand the lashes that are chunky and long through out the entire lash line.

Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely?

I am so terrible with budgets. (Don’t try this at home) I’ve even opened credit cards to buy makeup! Lol they’re paid off now, but I can’t budget when it comes to makeup and I do buy things here and there but I usually splurge.

What’s your favorite lipstick?

My favorite lipstick is Diva, by Mac. It’s the only lipstick I’ve finished and it’s the perfect color for me.

Describe your everyday makeup look.

My everyday go to makeup look. Is a tinted moisturizer, extreme highlight no shimmer, contour to balance everything out, a natural flesh tone eyeshadow, endless mascara, and a dark lip, like diva, and my brows have to be perfect ! I’ve even shaved half my brow so that I can achieve the look I want.

What’s your favorite mascara?

My favorite mascara is Extended Play Gigalash by Mac. I like that I can build, get smaller lashes, and also bottom lashes with out clumping

Is there any celebrity that you get your makeup inspiration from & why that celebrity?

This might be pretty cliche, but I love the Kardashian’s family makeup. The concept is brilliant and it’s always beautiful.

Do you have some favorite beauty gurus? If so, who?

Omagwash I’m sooooo in love with @Irisbeilin and @amberdean on Instagram !! One bucket list point, I had the honor to meet Amber Dean and hopefully I can meet Iris, but i love them and their work. It’s amazing !

If you could leave the house with only ONE makeup product, which would it be?

LIPSTICK !!!!!

Are there any brands that you try to avoid?

Brands that aren’t safe and aren’t environmentally friendly. Or those brands that don’t support good causes.

Do you usually “haul” or buy items here & there?

HAUL, I am a terrible shopper if I see it and it speaks to me, it will be mine lol

What’s your favorite skincare brand?

I have so many!! But right now I am on a Ole Henriksen diet lol. I love his products !

What is one beauty tool/brush that you’d recommend to anyone?

BEAUTY BLENDER EGG! No exceptions !

What is one beauty product that you’d recommend to ANYONE & why?

I always recommend Tarte’s inner rim liner. Simply because there is such a high trend of putting dark liner under the eye heavy. Sometimes that can really close up the eyes and doesn’t compliment eye color or shape. By using this inner rim liner you can instantly open your eye up but also keep your smokey liner at the same time.

If you had to give up one makeup item for the rest of your life, which would it be?

This question is not fun lol. I don’t want to give up anything ! But, if I had to I would give up shadows. I would be sad, but face is everything and I need my foundations, concealers and lipsticks.

What is your absolute pet peeve when it comes to other people’s makeup?

Seeing makeup that hasn’t been blended. BLENDING is LIFE. BLEND your life away !! Plus everything looks so much more complete when blended.

Share a beauty tip/trick/hack.. whatever you’d like to call it. Lol

If you haven’t tried this yet. When doing your brows, instead of completely filling in the brow, take your product start in the middle of the brow and draw little strokes of hair throughout, leaving the front a little naked unless you don’t have hair in the area draw little strokes there as well. Then conceal, this is the perfect strategy for a well constructed natural brow.

What’s the best way for future clients to reach you?
