Hey, dolls! Let’s talk perfumes. I did a fragrance over a year ago, but it was very general. Today, we’re getting deep. If you still want to take a gander at that post here you go, but I promise this post will be better! So first things first, what’s a signature fragrance? A signature fragrance is a fragrance that leaves your mark! Hence, the term “signature fragrance”. This fragrance is the one that makes people remember YOU when they smell it. It embodies you as a person. It’s what best emulates your personality. It’s what make YOU feel best. It’s supposed to fit YOU and YOUR PERSONALITY, not someone else’s. Also, if you don’t have a signature fragrance yet don’t feel bad! Some people have 30 perfumes and haven’t figured it out yet. It’ll come to you. I have about 10 perfumes and no signature fragrance. I would’ve pictured them all for you but some of them are nearly empty and I didn’t think it looked cute haha. Another important thing to remember is that EVERYONE has a different natural body scent so fragrances settle & smell differently on EVERYONE’S SKIN. Your MHC (major histocompatibility complex) determines your perfume preference. So what may smell good to or on you won’t smell good to or on someone else. It’s all about body chemistry. How do I know that? I learned it in one of my classes haha but enough with science!
My fragrance doesn’t change from day to night. It changes from season to season. During the warmer seasons, I prefer floral and clean scents. During the winter, I prefer warm and sensual scents. If I had to pick a signature scent right now, it would be a warm, sensual, addicting scent. Those types of fragrances are my all time favorites. Here are my favorite perfumes for the seasons…
- Chloe Eau de Parfum
- Marc Jacobs Daisy
- Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb
- Liz Claiborne Curve Crush
- Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black
- NEST Midnight Fleur
- Armani Code for Women
- Prada Candy
These are the perfumes that I reach for the most throughout the year. This year, my all time go-to’s were Marc Jacobs Daisy and Nirvana Black for sure!
If you are ever unsure about choosing a fragrance, I suggest that you check out Sephora. They are super knowledgeable about all things fragrance. They even have a computerized system to help you find a scent you’ll love! Scentbird is also a cool subscription company that allows you to “date” perfumes before you “marry” them. It’s only $15 a month, too.
Also, remember these tips..
- Layer your scent aka applying the fragrance body wash, lotion, then perfume.
- Want your scent to last all day? Apply it to the nape of your neck, behind your ears, behind your knees, and on your wrists of course!
- Wear a scent that makes YOU feel best.
- Moisturize your body before applying perfume. It soaks and clings on to your body better which means longer lasting power.
