Hit or Miss: Not Your Mother’s Deja Vu Do Style Extender

(via nymbrands.com)

It’s Monday which means it’s Hit or Miss time! I was supposed to review this product a while ago when I got it in a VoxBox from Influenster. Clearly, I didn’t review it but better late than never!

The Not Your Mother’s website claims, “This unique, lightweight cream will ward off any bad hair spirits and cast a clean hair spell (for days!) until your next wash.  It will block humidity and repel dirt and oil all while adding body and flexible hold. Made with conditioners for long lasting frizz control and improved shine, and infused with a delicious scent of red apples and berries, this style extending hair primer will keep your ‘do as fresh as it was moments after you styled it.” So basically it’s supposed to make your hair stay clean and fresh for days.

I used this 2 ways: with blow dried hair and air dried hair. What I found is that, I love it when I’m going to blow dry my hair. It makes my hair smell so good, feel smooth, full of body, clean, and just plain old lovely. I will tell you though, it doesn’t block humidity. I remember using this once and I had to put my hair in a bun because I was look like a frizz queen. When I use it on my natural curly hair and let it air dry, I don’t like it very much. It gives my hair this rough feeling. It’s almost like that feeling when you shampoo your hair but haven’t put conditioner on. It gives me that stripped feeling as if my hair has had all its moisture taken out. My hair will still smell good but feel like crap. So, I would say it’s an okay product. I wouldn’t go out and use it for when I wanna be all curly fro’ but I would probably use it again before I blow dry. If you’re all about the natural, curly movement, I don’t think you’d particularly enjoy this product. The last thing you need is to strip your curls from moisture! I wouldn’t say this product is a HIT or MISS. It’s an in-between.

If you’re interested in trying it out, you can get it for $8 at Ulta.
