Happy Friday loves. I’ve been wanting to compare these 2 drugstore foundations forever and I finally picked them up last Friday! I’ve been testing both of these foundations for a week, alternating which I use day by day. I’m judging these foundations based on 4 things: texture/formula, longevity, price, and color. So let’s just jump, shall we?
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Claims:
- Mattifies, erases pores and matches natural tone.
- Goes beyond skin tone matching to fit the unique texture issues of normal to oily skin.
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Claims:
- Lasts for 24 hours
- Contains Shine Defy Blotting Spheres that act like blotting paper to mimic makeup artist gesture, instantly absorbing sweat and oil without disturbing color pigments.
Color: Okay so both of these foundations don’t have a huge color selection. Both foundations have 12 shades but they didn’t have all the shades at the Ulta I was at . Personally, I think a foundation should have at least 15 shades to cater to almost every skin tone. L’oreal was probably the worst to choose from because you can’t tell the color from the outside. You’re going in there blind because all of the shades basically look the same from the outside. I chose Caramel Beige since that’s my L’oreal True Match color, but I found that it’s a smidge light for me. For the MNY foundation, my color is 322 Warm Honey and it fits my skin impeccably. It literally blended into my skintone.
Texture/Formula: I tried 2 primers with these foundations: MNY Baby Skin and Becca’s Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector. The L’oreal Infallible with the Becca primer is NOT good. My skin looked dry around my nose and forehead and it was just ugh! It was no good at all!! When I paired it with the Baby Skin, it was better but I found that it did look a bit dry in some areas, which is insane because my nose is one of the oiliest spots on my face. So rest assured, this foundation is MATTE! It’s also a full coverage foundation to me. Also, I find that I rather use a flat top kabuki or my Real Technique Expert Face Brush to apply this foundation. Due to the fact that it dries pretty fast, I don’t like to use my beauty blender. I also find that this foundation exemplifies my pores, which is a HUGE downfall for me.
The MNY foundation is very smooth. It applies impeccably with either a beauty blender or a brush. My pores are gone after I apply the foundation. I honestly can barely see them. It worked well with both the Becca and Baby Skin primer. It wasn’t patchy at all. It’s definitely a matte finish, but it’s not drying. I would say this foundation is medium to full coverage.
Longevity: L’oreal Infallible claims it lasts up to 24 hours. I used it yesterday for about 12 hours. By the time I got home, I realized there were spots around my nose which makeup had rubbed off from but that was about it. MNY Fit Me Matte + Poreless doesn’t personally claim any type of long wearing attributes, but I think it lasts as long as the average foundation – about 8-10 hours.
Price: L’oreal is always a more expensive drugstore brand. I picked it up at Ulta for $14.99. Meanwhile I picked up the MNY foundation for $7.99
Clearly, by my breakdown, you can see that I love the MNY Fit Me Matte + Poreless more than the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte. I find that I get a more of a bang for my buck. The formula is bomb. The finish is bomb. The price is bomb. The color is bomb. It’s just BOMB.COM! I was overall disappointed with the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte, but at least I’ve found my new holy grail drugstore foundation. However, I wouldn’t suggest either of these foundations to those with dry skin, especially not the L’oreal.
MNY Fit Me Matte + Poreless: 10/10
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte: 7/10
I hope this review helped!
