Hey dolls! Summer is right around the corner and the sun will be BEAMING! Supposedly, this summer is going to be very brutal since the winter was BRUTALLY COLD. Therefore, I’ve decided to give you some tips and tricks on how to stay MATTE this summer! This post will be very helpful to people with oily skin like me and even those of you who have oily T-zones. Let’s get started, shall we?
- PRIME YOUR FACE! This is crucial. A good primer minimizes pores which look bigger when your skin is oily & sweaty (aka in the summer). Primer also makes it easier to apply your makeup. If you’re oily across the board, apply a matte primer ALL OVER your face. If you’re oily specifically in your T-zone, then apply your matte primer there and in other areas where you notice LARGE pores. Some matte primers I recommend are: Benefit Porefessional, NARS Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer (Oil-Free), Make Up For Ever – HD microperfecting primer, and Smashbox Photo Finish Light. Also, if you don’t want to dish money on a primer, you can buy Milk of Magnesia and it works perfect!
- Apply a MATTE FOUNDATION OR BB CREAM: If you want a matte face, avoid dewy/oily foundations. If you don’t need full coverage, you can even go for a BB cream instead of a foundation. BB creams are lighter on your face and perfect for the summer. They aren’t for me because I do like full coverage, but if you can do without go for a BB cream. Some matte foundations I recommend are: Revlon Colorstay, Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free, NARS Sheer Matte Foundation, Laura Mercier Oil Free Supreme Foundation, and Bare Minerals Matte Foundation.
- Set your concealer: Regardless if you’re skin is oily or not, you always want to set your concealer. However, you should do it ESPECIALLY if you’re an oily beast. Set your concealer with a translucent powder. Any translucent powder will do. Even if you don’t have concealer on, set your foundation with powder.
- Blotting Papers: Always carry these around with you! Blot your skin with blotting sheets throughout the day and they’ll absorb all the shine and oil from your face.
