Hello beautiful people & WELCOME to my first review in the Hit or Miss series.
Since I’m an oily beast, I decided to try out the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation to see if it gave me justice. I bought it at CVS for $5.99 and here is what I’ve gathered… First off, if you’re even a smidge darker than me you WILL NOT find your shade because I bought the darkest shade they have which is 300 Sand. So this foundation, isn’t “color friendly” they don’t have a variety AT ALL. It only comes in 8 shades. So that’s one negative.
Another thing about this foundation is that it’s VERY THICK. I put a dime amount on my hand and I had a lot of product left over. Here’s what it looked like… Of course, I expected it to be thick to some degree because it is a liquid mousse foundation. However, this foundation is too thick. Also, it felt like I had a mask on and it takes a good while to blend into your skin. I used my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and my Sedona Lace Flat Top Kabuki to blend it all out. It has a very powdery finish which I’m also not a fan of because although I want a matte face, this foundation feels unnatural on my face. I fixed the unnatural look by blending in some bronzer because the shade STILL didn’t fit my face as good as I wanted to.
Now, the real question is does it STAY MATTE? Yes but NOT FOR A LONG TIME. I applied this foundation and wore it for about 6 hours and eventually my nose and chin started getting oily, mostly my chin.
All in all, this foundation was a waste and definitely a miss. It has no color variety, it’s too thick, not easily blendable, AND it only stays matte for about 3 hours MAX. Disappointing …
