So in the Japan Edition of the TLC music video “Waterfalls”, it looks like Lisa Lopes is missing. Instead, TLC used Japanese pop star, Namie Amuro, to sing Lisa Lopes’ part in the Waterfalls Remix. The Lopes family is not too happy about it! Lisa’s sister spoke out about the issue and stated that she and her mother are hurt by it. Her sister, Reigndrop, stated “I mean, it would have been nice if they would have given us a heads up before being surprised.” The family had no idea about the new video remix until a fan of the group posted it online. However, the video has been taken off YouTube due to the criticisms and feelings of fans and the video will only be released in Japan.
Lead singer, T-Boz, had a good amount to say in their defense. She stated, We’re going to still sound like TLC, evolving to whatever level we need to be at this time.” She also turned to Twitter to calm down fans who were commenting on how wrong it was to replace Left Eye. One response to a fan read “@Tupacaveli u don’t know what ur talkin about bless your heart you’ll see soon enough it’s in Lisa’s words its a Tribute to her not replaced.” Her overall statement on Twitter stated “#Shhhhh with a special finger if u don’t know what ur talking about! Don’t believe the hype…”
The duo remains strong. T-Boz and Chili will be performing July 27th in the Mixtape Festival in Pennsylvania. This is going to be the first time they’ve performed in the U.S. since 2009.
